WATERLOO -Evangelia Gades, 85, of Waterloo, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born March 25, 1922, in Alikianos, Crete, Greece, daughter of Nicholas and Basileke Manousaki Daskalaki. She married James Gades on Sept. 10, 1953, in Greece. He died March 29, 1979.

Mrs. Gades came to the United States in 1954, after her marriage. She and her husband farmed in the Waterloo area, retiring in the early 1970s.

Survived by a son, Steven of Waterloo; a daughter, Kathryn Gades of Waterloo; and a sister, Kathryn Daskalaki of Alikianos, Crete.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
