EVANSDALE - Leonard E. "Lee" Cameron, 82, of Evansdale, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born July 25, 1925, in Waterloo, son of Samuel and Mary Bebee Cameron. He married Lillian Frush on Oct. 28, 1948, in Waterloo.

Mr. Cameron was a World War II veteran, serving in the Marine Corps. He was employed at Rath Packing Co., Waterloo, for 33 years, and was twice past commander of the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Michael (Rose) of Raymond and James (Janice) of Jesup; a daughter, LeeAnn (John) Steidler of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Carrie Steidler, Derek Cameron, Jeremy Cameron, Kelly Steidler, Jason Cameron, Cody Cameron and Caleb Cameron; two great-grandchildren, Dillon Sampson and Morgan Kohls; and two sisters, Mary Norte of Readlyn and Margaret (Don) Brackett of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Eugene.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Full graveside military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
