WATERLOO - Mona E. Ingham, 92, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, of natural causes.
She was born Feb. 4, 1921, on a farm in Howard County, daughter of Harry and Anna Tabbert Buehler. She married Irvin Ingham on Feb. 11, 1940, at Trinity American Lutheran Church, Waterloo; he died March 26, 2000.
Mrs. Ingham graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1939 and then attended a college of engineering as a mechanical inspector. She graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology with a certificate in CNC machine operating and also from Pitze's School of Beauty as a licensed cosmetologist. During World War II, she was as a mechanical inspector at John Deere for seven years. She retired after 32 years at Rath Packing Co., and during this time she also operated a beauty shop in her home for 30 years. She was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church.
Survived by three daughters, Pamela, Dianne and Debra Ingham, all of Waterloo; a son Larry (Jean) of Meridian, Conn.; six grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Thompson of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Buehler of Goshen, Conn.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Frank Buehler; and three sisters, Katherine Wilkens, Margaret Garner and Helene Moore.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mona enjoyed carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, big family dinners, fishing, making rugs, working in her yard, and spending time at her cabin. She also contributed to the building of Ascension Lutheran Church by helping with the carpentry finish work.
