WATERLOO - Opal Danehy, 81, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born Nov. 29, 1923, in North Liberty, daughter of Perry and Harriet Mae Madden Hoskinson. She married Frank L. Danehy on July 3, 1955, in Waterloo. He died March 23, 1969.

Mrs. Danehy graduated from Parnell High School. She worked in food service for the Waterloo Schools, retiring in 1984. She also worked at the Holiday Inn in Cedar Falls and as a parking attendant in Waterloo.

Survivors include a son, Frank of Waterloo; nieces and nephews, Ron (Doris) Gilson of Cedar Rapids, Judy Kadlec of Cedar Rapids, Terry (Bev) Bowman of Coralville, Gary Shay, Deanna (Tom) Cornwell of West Branch, Debra (Rod) Courtney of North Liberty and Doreen Olson of Aurora, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by five sisters, Thora Shay, Naomi Fairchild, Evelyn Kadlec, Dorothy Bowman, and a stillborn, Diane April; two brothers, Russell and Lloyd "Toddy" Hoskinson; two nephews, Dan Bowman and Jeff Kadlec; and two nieces, Dorothy "Babe" Walters and Linda Sue Gilson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Mulberry Street, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
