Goldie M. Smith, 82, of Ridgeway Place, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born May 2, 1917, in Titanic, Okla., daughter of William and Myrtle Chaffin Krutsinger. She married James "Shorty" Smith on May 4, 1936, in Hudson. He died Aug. 15, 1993.

Survived by two daughters, Sonia McCarthy and Sharon Swanson, both of Waterloo; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by four brothers, Jessie, Roy, Herman and Norman; and two sisters, Barbara and Violet Krutsinger.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
