WATERLOO - Ed Draeger, 72, of Des Moines, formerly of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014.

He was born Sept. 18, 1941, in Elgin, son of Clarence and Dora Monahan Draeger. He married Sally Sue Witcher; they later divorced. He then married Helen Monroe. She preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2013.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School. Mr. Draeger received his machinist certificate from Hawkeye Community College and retired from EMCO Corp., Des Moines.

Survived by three sons, Dennis of Charles City, Dave of Hudson and Dion (Vikki) of Waterloo; a stepdaughter Millie Winters of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, David of Waterloo; and a sister, Lucille (Wendell) Bartlett of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Larry.

Services: 3 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, preceded by visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Military rites to be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the U.S. Marines Corps. Burial will be at a later date.
