WATERLOO -- James Joseph “Jim” Dilley, 63, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center, Independence, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Oct. 22, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Francis and Maurine C. Merrick Dilley. He married Tangee Weber on July 12, 1975, and they later divorced.

Mr. Dilley had worked at Dilley Excavating and also as a foreman for Fagen Inc.

Survived by two sons, Michael and Shane (LaTrisha), both of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Joseph and Layla Dilley of Waterloo; seven sisters, Jeanette (Martin) Meyer of Eagan, Minn., Gloria Dickey of Moore, Okla., Marie (Walt) Cuvelier of Cedar Falls, Cheryl (Bill) Smeed of Davenport, Julia (Doug) Bean of Scotch Grove, Diana (David) Bluml of Waterloo and Joy Lynch of Vinton; five brothers, Jack (Sue) Pickerill, and Dennis and Gary Matson, all of Waterloo, Joseph (Peggy) Matson of Kansas City, Mo., and Jimmy Matson of Vinton; his stepmother, Doris Dilley of La Porte City; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Kathleen Timmerman, Rosemary Sanford and Nikki Moyer.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery at a later date. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
