CEDAR FALLS - Ruth E. Thompson, 85, of the Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the health center of cancer.

She was born June 9, 1919, in Waterloo, daughter of Lloyd James and Elizabeth Martha Bedford Loonan. She married Paul Hahn June 20, 1950. They later divorced. She married Henry M. Thompson Jan. 23, 1965, in Cedar Falls. He died Nov. 16, 1982.

Survivors include a brother, Lloyd Loonan of Hudson; two sisters, Martha Nation and Jean Grinnell, both of Cedar Falls; a sister-in-law, Mavis Loonan of Ames; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and two brothers, Daniel and James Loonan.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at the Western Home Communities Chapel, Cedar Falls, with burial in Hudson Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services at the chapel Monday. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.
