EVANSDALE - James L. "Chub" Kane, 82, of 322 Morrell Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center Emergency Room, Waterloo, of natural causes.

He was born June 16, 1918, in Boscobel, Wis., son of Fred and Alice Plimton Kane. He married Dorothy Bathke, and she preceded him in death. He then married Hazel Kane, and she preceded him in death. He then married Betty Albright, and she preceded him in death.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Kane was a superintendent of construction with John G. Miller Construction Co. until his retirement.

Survived by three sons, Lee Kane of Clarksville, Dave Albright of West Des Moines and Jeff Albright of Waterloo; a daughter, Sue Albright of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill of West Union, Herb of Evansdale and Dick of Omaha, Neb.; and two sisters, Edith Kennison of Evansdale and Thelma Eschweiler of Independence.

Preceded in death by a brother, Fred.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, with burial in Richfield Township Cemetery, Sumner. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
