Ether J. Lane, 88, of 310 Upland Drive, formerly of 918 Elmer St., Evansdale, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 3, 1912, in Decatur, son of Frank and Nettie Lane. He married Alberta E. Gray on Jan. 5, 1935, in Leon. She died May 5, 1998. Mr. Lane was a construction worker for 40 years, retiring in 1977.

Survived by a daughter, Linda Kramme of Stout; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Lovelle; and three sisters, Lou Boston, Neva Lane and Mable Shain.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel-downtown, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
