Darrell K. Pepperling, 90, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in Phoenix of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 29, 1910, in Ackley, son of Charles and Susan Pepperling. He married Bessie Hopkins on Nov. 13, 1939. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Pepperling worked for 32 years in the security division of the Illinois Central Railroad.

Survived by a daughter, Joan Speer of Beaver Dam, Wis.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marlys Vulgamott of Webster City.

Preceded in death by a brother.

Graveside services 10 a.m. Nov. 18 in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
