CEDAR FALLS - Gary Gilbert Beckner, 60, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 13, 1940, in Waterloo, son of Gilbert "Max" and Ella Peter Beckner. He married Karen Marie Hawkins June 10, 1967, in Waterloo.

Mr. Beckner attended Wartburg College, Waverly, and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He worked at John Deere, Waterloo; White Farm, Charles City; and several foundries in Wisconsin. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Gary L. of Milwaukee and Timothy L. of La Porte City; and four granddaughters.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Family Funeral Care, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
