Dean A. Morrison, 89, formerly of Jesup and La Porte City, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000 at Friendship Village, Waterloo, of Alzheimer's disease.

He was born May 17, 1911, in Alexandria, S.D., son of Frank and Sarah Heberlien Morrison. He married Velda E. Edge on June 14, 1933, in Grant County, Wis. She died April 5, 1988.

Mr. Morrison was a long-time railroad postal clerk. He also owned and operated the Coast-to-Coast store in La Porte City for many years and owned and operated a bowling alley in Mount Pleasant for several years.

Survived by a son, Darold of Ozark, Ark.; two daughters, Kay Henderson of Cedar Falls and Joy Christian of La Porte City; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred of Rockford, Ill.

Preceded in death by a son, Dyle; four brothers, Leslie, Kenneth, Eugene and Robert; and three sisters, Bernice Freymiller, Gertrude Tiernery, and an infant.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Jesup, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup.
