Edward Frederick Chezik, 79, of Waverly, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Clarksville.

He was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Waterloo, son of John and Delma Ellen Martin Chezik. He married Evelyn Dally on Sept. 7, 1957, at Burton Avenue Baptist Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Chezik graduated from Waverly High School in 1950 and briefly attended Wartburg College. He farmed in partnership with his father and was later a coin broker until illness forced him to retire. He served in several positions at Burton Avenue Baptist Church and at First Baptist in Waverly.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Lynette (Kevin) Winstead of Elk Run Heights and Janet (Brian) Megilligan of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Kenneth of Seymour, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Austin, Lindsey and Reece; and a brother, Donald (Elaine) of Kansas City.

Preceded in death by a brother, John; and a daughter-in-law, Ellen.

Graveside services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

As a teenager, Ed received Jesus Christ as his personal savior and received believer's baptism at First Baptist Church in Waverly. His greatest interest was working with young people.
