CEDAR FALLS - David C. Morse, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Clear Lake, son of Bertram and Janet Corbin Morse. He married Thelma Otteson April 14, 1943, in New Hampton.

He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II, from which he received a Purple Heart. He was the branch manager for Northrup King until retiring in 1983 and served as past first vice president of Iowa Seed Dealers.

Survived by his wife, Thelma of Cedar Falls; a son, David R. (Lois) Morse of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Diane (Richard) Ransom of Placitas, N.M.; four grandchildren, Jeff Riker, Dan Riker, Laura Morse and Carrie Morse; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Carland (Wilma) Morse of Decorah; and a sister, Tommy Lehman of New Hampton.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo. Military rites will be conducted by the 113th Calvary of the Iowa Army National Guard. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Saturday at funeral home.

A memorial fund will be established.
