CEDAR FALLS - Betty Jean Randall Engin, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at the Western Home Communities

She was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Toledo, daughter of Ivan and Vera Reedy Randall. She married Duane M. "Duff" Engen on March 31, 1946, at her parents farm in La Porte City. He died June 30, 1983.

Mrs. Engin graduated from La Porte City High School in 1941; attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, from 1941 until 1942; then attended Evangelical Deaconess School of Nursing, Marshalltown, from 1942 until 1945. She worked as a registered nurse in the nursery at Schoitz Memorial Hospital until 1958. She enjoyed bowling, golf leagues and attending her class reunions in La Porte City and nursing class reunions in Marshalltown. She was active in Whistle Widows, Elkets, PTA and PEO.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah J. (Dale) Sienknecht of Cedar Falls, Vanessa K. (Dennis) Engen Wulf of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., and Tracey L. (Del) Surette of Citrus Heights, Calif.; four grandchildren, Miranda (Ryan) Sienknecht Miest of Minneapolis, Cara A. Wulf and Quinn C. Wulf, both of Grosse Pointe Woods, and Alex Surette of Citrus Heights; two brothers, Collin (Shirley) Randall of Janesville and Chalmer (Nancy) Randall of Greensboro, N.C.; nine nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Harold B. Engen.

Family memorial graveside services: Friday at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society or a charitable organization of donors choice.

Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
