Robert R. Schultz, 85, of Delhi, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness.

He was born March 29, 1923, in Dodge Center, Minn., son of the Rev. Otto C. and Edna Ilten Schultz. He married Maxine L. Peters on July 29, 1945, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Westgate.

Mr. Schultz graduated from Maynard High School, Maynard, in 1942. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an SKV 2nd Class in the Midway and Hawaiian Islands. He and his wife owned Schultz Briardale Store, Westgate, for 15 years, then moved to Cedar Falls, where they owned the Rainbow Groceryland for 28 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Manchester.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Kevin (Lee Ann) and Brad, both of Cedar Falls, Alan of Spirit Lake and Joel (Jackie) of Winthrop; three grandchildren; a stepgrandson; two brothers, Otto of Palm Bay, Fla., and Paul (Barbara) of Janesville, Wis.; and a brother-in-law, Willis Kohls of Sparta, Wis.

Preceded in death by a brother, Phillip; and three sisters, Roberta Marsh, Trudy Monter and Sally Kohls.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Manchester, with burial at 2 p.m. in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Alzheimer's Association or the Good Neighbor Home.
