WATERLOO -- Allyn Francis Mincks, 60, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

He was born Nov. 29, 1953, in Decorah, to Allyn and Gladys Cronin Mincks. He married Gloria Querubin on June 21, 1975.

He served in the Navy from 1972 to 1978. He graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology with diesel and auto mechanic degrees. Mr. Mincks was an employee of Menards for 15 years, followed by working with his son at Cedar Valley Fire Auto Sprinklers. Together he and his wife owned Nana’s Oriental Grocery Store in Waterloo for 17 years.

Survived by his wife; his mother; two sons, Eugene and Christopher (Rebecca), both of Waterloo; two daughters, Maria Mincks and Angelina (Marvin) Hagen, both of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; seven sisters, Ellyn (James) Diederich, Mary (Steve) Holkesvik, Sandy (Steve) Reicks, Wendy (Larry Sr.) Henry, Sherry Henry, Terry Tran, Brenda (Randy Sr.) Henry; and two brothers, Joseph (Lynn Evans) and Robert.

Preceded in death by his father; and maternal and fraternal grandparents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Evansdale AMVETS. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 6:30 p.m. vigil service.
