Emanuel G. "Mike" Kokinos, 67, of Jesup, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born June 28, 1943, in Waterloo, son of George E. and Gethsemany Demetrielis Kokinos. He married Sharon L. Blair in 1962 in Grand Forks, N.D.

Mr. Kokinos graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1961 then served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for John Deere Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was active with the Black Hawk County Sheriff Reserves for eight years and was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Todd (Lori) of Rushford, Minn., Gregory (Tammy) of Aurora, Colo., Michael (Jeri King) of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Anthony (Gayle) of Jesup; a daughter, Michelle Kokinos (Kevin Downs) of Jesup; 11 grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff) Recker, Shane Kokinos, Erica (Ryan Maestas) Keller, Ashlea (Jeremy) Givens, Ashley Baca, Bryce Kokinos, Amanda Baca, Emanuel Kokinos, Kyle Davis, Kyle Baca and Josie Harkness; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Keller.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Emanuel.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 with flag folding by Iowa Army Honor Guard. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
