WATERLOO - Paul D. Balvanz, 63, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at his home of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 10, 1943, in Marshalltown, son of Harry C. and Lois I. Zeltman Balvanz. He married Kathryn J. Anderson Nov. 6, 1964, in Waterloo.

Mr. Balvanz worked at Viking Pump as a machinist for 30 years, retiring in 2005.

Survived by his wife, Kathryn of Waterloo; a son, Aaren (Jodi) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Liisa Balvanz of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Jaron, Celeste and Reese Balvanz of Cedar Falls; and three brothers, Francis, and Gordon (Marilyn) and Thomas (Barb), both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
