Mary E. VanNevele, 75, of Littleton, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born June 4, 1937, in Oelwein, daughter of Emil Neuman and Nancy Jane Dudley Neuman. She married Oliver Hippen on Oct. 3, 1954, in Nashua. They later divorced. She married Alvan VanNevele on Nov. 23, 1971, in Independence. They later divorced.

She attended West High School in Waterloo. She was a home health aide and member of Central Christian Church.

Survived by two daughters, Pamela (Cecil Clayton) Casillas and Jane (Robert) Arthur, all of Littleton; a son, Joel (Victoria) VanNevele of Littleton; three stepsons: Donald VanNevele of Virginia, Duane VanNevele of Texas and Danny VanNevele of Independence; a stepdaughter, Mellanie Groetken of Houston; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; 10 stepgrandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Neuman and James (Patricia) Neuman of Waterloo; and a stepbrother, Ed (Gloria) Lenius of Mason City.

Preceded in death by two children in infancy, Nancy Jane Hippen and Daniel Hippen; a sister, Dorothy Mueller; a brother, Gerald “Joe” Neuman; a stepdaughter, Laura VanNevele; and a son-in-law, Ricky Casillas.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with burial in Littleton Cemetery, Littleton. Public visitation from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
