WATERLOO, IOWA - Thelma E. Morrow, age 86, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter.

Thelma was born March 2, 1920, in Green Castle, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas N. and Emma Pierce Billington. She was married to Gordon Richard Morrow, until his death on September 30, 1974. Thelma worked for several years for the Rath Packing Company, Allen Glass Company, and mostly at Image Pointe until August 30, 2006.

She was a 53-year member of her church, First Wesleyan. She attended church regularly on Wednesday nights, and rose up early every Sunday to go to church.

She had three daughters: Anita Rae, who died as an infant; Beverly Jean Nolting, of Kirksville, Missouri; and Pat Swartzendruber, co-owner of Image Pointe.

Her four grandchildren were: Heather Nolting, a registered nurse in Seattle Washington; Matt Nolting, co-owner of the family owned business, Allen Glass Company; John Richard Swartzendruber who went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2001; and Beth (Swartzendruber) Ruyle, currently doing mission work with her husband Joshua, in East Asia.

Two great-grandchildren include, Jack Matthew Nolting, and Avery Grace Nolting.

Living brothers and sisters were: Jim Billington, Jessie Werhan and Betty Pickens all of Missouri. She was preceded in death by brothers: Glenn, Edgar, Allen, and Eugene Billington; and by sisters, Velma and Geraldine Ohrt.

No family is ever ready to say goodbye to their loved one, but as a family we realize we have had so many wonderful times with her, the love that we have as a family is so strong and mostly because mom always kept us together. It was said of mom that she was "OUR ROCK," she was the one who we all went to for wisdom, for our love, and most of all, we all knew as a family she would always be there for us if she could be, if we needed her.

The most important thing in her life was her relationship with Jesus Christ, her love for the Lord meant so much to her, and secondly her family. If you talk to any of us you will always hear, "Oh man, she was the best mom, she was my grandma and she was always there for me, she was my sister, you could always count on her, she was Aunt Thelma, I loved her so much."

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Wesleyan Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
