Leonard John Rumpza, 83, of Waterloo, died Saturday Oct. 6, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born August 24, 1924 in Day County, S.D., the son of Leo John and Anastasia Marie Kwasnieski Rumpza.

He married Dorothy Barbara Lentsch on Feb. 1, 1958, in Webster, S.D. She died March 5 2007.
Mr. Rumpza farmed with his father in South Dakota then farmed in North Dakota for 10 years. He then was employed with the city of Waterloo for 17 years until retiring.

Survived by two sons, Charles A. and Leonard L. both of Waterloo; a daughter Cynthia A. (Naim) Mustafa of London, England; two sisters, Val Janisch of Eden, S.D. and Dorothy Hammand of Belt, Mt.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Joe and Stanley Rumpza; a sister Leona Hojnacke; Step-grandson Phillip Williams.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St. where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
