WATERLOO - Anna Mae Hinton, 99, of Waterloo, died Friday, September 8, 2006, at Manor Care in Waterloo.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney and Archie Hinton, both of Waterloo; two daughters, Sally (Tom) Wharf of Waterloo and Faye Ann (Sam) Meyers of Lamirada, California; a sister, Margarite Newsum of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bert; three brothers, Cecil, Arthur and Archie; two sons, Richard and David; a daughter, Marlys Jean; and a granddaughter, Amy Jo Weber.

Anna was born January 8, 1907, in Waterloo to Asa and Margaret Shannon Cole. She married Bert Hinton on May 5, 1924, in Nevada, Iowa. She worked as a seamstress, and had worked for the boston store, Fort Dodge, Colony Club in Waterloo and for Powers Manufacturing for over 15 years. She had lived in the communities of Fort Dodge; El Monte, California, and Waterloo. Anna loved animals, going fishing and playing piano, organ and guitar. Crocheting was another one of her pastimes and talents.

Services will be held at the Garden of Memories Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa.
