WATERLOO - Mildred Rose "Millie" Howe, 89, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born May 21, 1918, in Lawler, daughter of Thomas J. and Henrietta Rose Wulf Britt. She married Clifford LeRoy Howe on Aug. 1, 1936, in New Hampton. He died Sept. 4, 1961.

Mrs. Howe was employed as a seamstress at Powers Manufacturing Co. until her retirement.

Survivors include a son, Curtis (Melinda) of Cleveland, Tenn.; two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" (Robert) Gauger and Sandra (Richard) VanBesien, both of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren, Teri (William) Kohls, Timothy (Kelly) Gauger, Trent Gauger, Kelly (Gene) Hansen, Mark (Deanna) VanBesien, Sara (Dennis) Jordan, Bridgette (Jeff) Miller, Lisa Howe, Matthew (Kim) Howe and Ben (Clara) Howe; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Dorothy) Britt of Waterloo; and a brother-in-law, Bill Cutsforth of Minnesota.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray (Rose), Sylvester (Anna), Jerome (Alta) and Oliver (Orietta) Britt; and five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Anastacia (Frank) Junko, Ruby (Vic) Bonat, Madonna (Wallace) Burvee, Lorraine (Greg) Pitz and Bernadette Cutsforth.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
