WATERLOO - George E. Waddell Sr., 78, of 618 Gilbert St., died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at his home of natural causes.

He was born April 10, 1930, in Mason City, son of Carl and Lila Ruth Stripes Waddell.

He graduated from East High School in 1948 and was employed as a foreman with the Illinois Central Railroad for 30 years. He was also a delivery man for Metz Baking Co. for 16 years, retiring in April 1996.

Survived by a son, George E. Jr. (Patricia) of Dubuque; two daughters, Debbie (Jim) Voshell of Waterloo and Rebecca (Frank) Woldan of Dysart; six grandchildren, Lindsey (Tim) Cota, Jason Waddell, Wendy (Kurt) Venenga, Nicole (Luke) Cummings, Melissa Voshell and Michael Voshell; five great-grandchildren, Andrew and Anna Venenga, Catherine Cummings and Alexander and Taylor Cota; two sisters, Barbara Ransom of Waterloo and Wanda Estel of Cedar Falls; and three brothers, Warren (Dorothy) and Dwan, both of Waterloo, and Carl Jr. of Mason City.

Preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; a brother; and a great-granddaughter, Bailey Cota.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
