DUNKERTON - Herbert Martin Pfiffner, 87, of Dunkerton, died at home Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Waterloo, son of Raymond B. and Johanna Geib Pfiffner. He married Carol Marie Reiff on July 1, 1961, in Waterloo; she died Sept. 28, 1991. He married Emma Jean Albertson Bruns on Sept. 24, 1993, in Waterloo.

Mr. Pfiffner farmed in the Dewar area, retiring in 2007.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Susan (Anthony) Schultz of Wellsburg; five stepsons, David, Mark, Dale, Terry (Susan) and Keith Bruns; two stepdaughters, Patricia (Mike) McNulty and Linda (Ronald) Ford; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Vera) of Waterloo and Cletus (Evelyn) of Oelwein; a sister, Mary (Gene) Barnes of Vinton; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Richards of Ames.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Vincent; a sister, Roberta Kriegel; three stepsons, Danny, Robert and Joseph Bruns; and a stepdaughter, Cindy Bruns.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, with a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family or Cedar Valley Hospice.
