LA PORTE CITY - Arlene J. Lane, 98, of La Porte City, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born June 3, 1915, in rural Black Hawk County, daughter of James Earl and Mary Jane Healey Huppert. She married Milton L. Lane on March 4, 1938, in Lancaster, Mo.; he died Jan. 4, 1980.

Mrs. Lane worked as an aide at the former Colonial Manor Nursing Home, La Porte City, for many years. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, church circle, founder of Country Lane Saddle Club and was a volunteer for La Porte City Council on Aging, where she received many awards.

Survived by two daughters, Mary (Jeff) Krop of La Porte City and Sue (Agustin) Ramirez of Claremore, Okla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert; an infant granddaughter, Dalanna McFarland; a brother, Robert Huppert; and an infant sister.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at La Porte City Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
