CEDAR FALLS - Ruth Van Syoc, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at Windhaven Assisted Living, Cedar Falls.

She was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Knoxville, Tenn., daughter of Marvin and Grace Sexton Price. She married Larry R. Van Syoc in Waterloo; he died Dec. 13, 1988.

A 1946 graduate of Brandon High School, Brandon, she owned and operated the Treasurer Chest, Cedar Falls, for many years, retiring in 1995.

Survived by three sons, David (Peggy) Van Syoc of Clear Lake, Dan (Terry) Van Syoc of Springboro, Ohio, and Tom (Dianne) Van Syoc of Des Moines; two daughters, Becky (Dan) Corbin and Barbara (Gary) Woods, both of Cedar Falls; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Jean Stoakes of Kerrville, Texas.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Eva Ludden.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prairie Lakes Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Woodhaven Assisted Living, Cedar Valley Hospice, and Prairie Lakes Church.
