CEDAR FALLS - Prudence Anne Latta, 82, of Wilsonville, Ore., formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, from complications of Parkinson's disease.

She was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Des Moines, and was adopted as a baby by Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Smith of Cedar Falls. She married John Latta III in 1950 in Cedar Falls.

She worked as a volunteer at Dammasch State Mental Hospital in Oregon for approximately 10 years until it was closed in 1995. She was very active in providing care for the mentally ill.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Faith Young and Laurie Roberts; and three sons, John IV, Peter and Thomas; and four grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Historical Society, Ice House Museum.

She was the most faithful wife, best friend and life long partner in life that John could ever have had.
