WATERLOO - Gary E. Anderson, 72, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, of lung cancer.

He was born May 15, 1941, in Fort Dodge, son of Amos and Anne Siefert Anderson. He married Becky Andersen on Sept. 17, 1988, in Waterloo.

Mr. Anderson graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High, and then attended Graceland University. He was employed at the Globe Union, Fort Dodge, before moving to Waterloo. He then was employed as a tool and die maker at H&H Tool & Die and Cedar Industries for 51 years. He was a member at the Community of Christ, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Tom (Keely) of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Gary (Kendra) of Camden Point, Mo., and Tom Hall (Melisa Pilkey) of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Terri (Michael) Chmielewski and Susan (Robert) Bristow, both of Altha, Fla., and Tami Hall (Darren Martin) of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Steve (Julie) of Independence, Mo.; and a sister, Kay (Terry) Bretthauer of Urbandale.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Community of Christ Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. celebration service, and for an hour before services Saturday, all at the church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memorial, an Overton Family Service, is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, woodworking and golfing. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
