WATERLOO - Maurine C. Pickerill, 86, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Alta Vista, daughter of Andrew and Julia Schupanitz Merrick. She married Calvin S. Pickerill on July 22, 1963, in Preston, Minn.; he died June 1, 1992.

Mrs. Pickerill was employed at Chamberlain Manufacturing for 39 years, retiring in 1990. After retirement she was employed as a cook at St. John’s Catholic Church rectory in Waterloo for seven years. She was past regent of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Castile 49, and was past president of both REAC and Hammond Organ Club.

Survived by two sons, James Dilley and Calvin (Sue) Pickerill, both of Waterloo; five daughters, Gloria Pickerill Dickey of Moore, Okla., Marie (Walter) Pickerill Cuvelier of Cedar Falls, Jeannette (Martin) Dilley Meyer of Eagan, Minn., Cheryl (William) Pickerill Smeed of Davenport and Julia (Doug) Pickerill Bean of Scotch Grove; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo (Carol) Driscoll of State Center; and a sister, Liz (Steve) Thorpe of Denver.

Preceded in death by two daughters, Rosemary Dilley Sanford and Kathleen Dilley Timmerman; a grandson, David Meyer; and a brother, Tim Driscoll.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Catholic Charities or Cedar Valley Catholic School System.
