WATERLOO - Marguerite E. Riley, 82, of Friendship Village, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Friendship Village from complications of Parkinsons disease.

She was born April 20, 1923, in Dewar, daughter of August and Mary Geib Schmitt. She married Vivian J. Riley on March 6, 1943, in Oelwein.

She worked at the Black Hawk County Relief Office as a bookkeeper for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

Survived by her husband; four sons, Stephen (Marge) and David (Joyce), both of Waterloo, Russell (Claudia) of Livermore, Calif., and John (Barbara Talbott) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; four grandchildren, Bill Riley, Rachel (Chris) Weber, Chris (Sylvia) Riley and Michael Riley; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Arnold Frost of Gilbertville.

Preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Schmitt; and a sister, Rosemary Frost.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with entombment at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church, Cedar Valley Hospice or Friendship Village.
