WATERLOO - Mary Jane Casey, 82, of 1025 Bayard St., Waterloo, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Covenant Skilled Nursing and Rehab of natural causes.

She was born April 15, 1923, in Waterloo, daughter of Carl V. and Mary Ann Murphy Kullen. She married Joseph Wm. Lurix Jan. 2, 1945. He died in August 1945 during World War II. She then married William T. Casey on July 31, 1948. He died Nov. 1, 2002.

Mrs. Casey was a graduate of W. Stratford, Connecticut, in 1941 and then attended Hunter College in New York for medical training. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a hospital apprentice. She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Jeanne Kullen of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews; a cousin, Darlene Lown; and her husbands two brothers, Maurice "Dick" (Jeanne) Casey and Francis Casey, and their families.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dale and Raymond Kullen; and an infant sister, Patricia.

Family-directed memorial services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Edwards Catholic Church, with inurnment in Waterloo Cemetery. Friends may call for an hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
