CEDAR FALLS - Dr. Augusto William Chang-Silva, 69, of the Western Home Communities, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born May 31, 1936, in Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru, son of Alberto and Aurora Chang. On Nov. 18, 1972, he married LaVerne Werner in Milwaukee, Wis.

Dr. Chang-Silva received his medical degree from the University of Trujillo, Peru; interned at Stanford University; did residency at University of California, Loma Linda; and a Ford Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He worked in Lima, Peru, as an OB/GYN physician.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. David A. Chang of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, Lisa L. Chang, cPh.D, of Philadelphia; five sisters, Maria Vanini, Olga Lopez and Teresa Chang, all of Lima, Peru, Nancy Urso of Miami, Fla., and Isabel Koenig of New York City; a sister-in-law, Elaine Bruns (friend Marty Stallman) and her children, Doug Bruns and Jenn Bruns, all of Waterloo; and brother-in-law, Richard (Becky) Werner of Fort Myers, Fla., and their children, Karin Werner, MPH, of Washington, D.C., and Greg Werner, Ph.D, of Boulder, Colo.

Preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Segundo and Maria Chang, both of Lima, Peru.

Private services: were held.
