WATERLOO - Curtis F. Ives, 79, of Waterloo, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Manchester, son of Curtis J. and Frances Ritter Ives. He was married to Shirley Buck for 31 years and they had five children. He married Jen Heidemann on Sept. 26, 1981, in Waterloo.

He was a graduate of Waterloo West High School and had attended Purdue University. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served on the USS Teladaga during World War II.

Mr. Ives was a machine operator for Chamberlain Manufacturing for 10 years and a supervisor at John Deere Company, retiring Nov. 31, 1984. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with his membership at Waterloo Lodge 624 and was a member of the Royal Order of Moose International Lodge 328, VFW Post 1623, Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and American Legion Post 138. He was past president of the Iowa, Eastern Nebraska Moose Association and past deputy supreme governor of the Iowa, Eastern Nebraska Association.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Stephen (Diane) of Louisville, Ky., and David J. (Verna) of Evansdale; three daughters, Melinda (Tim) Doland and Kathy (Anthony) Stevens, both of Waterloo, and Norma Kay (Sam) Reece of Gillsville, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Jane Stone of LaCrosse, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard of Austin, Texas; and a sister, Lorna (Loren) Sullivan of Winthrop.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Noel; and two sisters, Sharon Ladd and Ruth Gilbertson.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
