Irene Ann Mixdorf, 83, of Denver, formerly of rural Waterloo, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Denver Sunset Home of cancer.

She was born March 8, 1926, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Adolph and Irene Sharp Wolff. She married Martin H. Mixdorf on Aug. 4, 1946, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls. He died Nov. 5, 1998.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1943 and then moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a secretary during World War II. She later was a secretary for several businesses, including St. John’s Lutheran Bennington Church, rural Waterloo.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Bennington.

Survived by two sons, Dennis (Mary Beth) of Elk River, Minn., and Marshall (Julie) of rural Waterloo; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church Bennington, rural Waterloo, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family, with a memorial direction to be established at a later date.
