FINCHFORD - John E. Rich, 68, of Finchford, died of cancer Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born in Finchford on Jan. 21, 1945, son of Laura Rich. He married Vicky Smith on July 1, 1961, at First Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.

He attended schools at Finchford and Cedar Falls before working at Ohler Machining, Northland Oil, and John Deere. Mr. Rich then became an over-the-road semi driver, retiring in 2005.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Dawn (Russel) Knudsen of Waverly and Vannette (Jason) Hunemuller of Sumner; two sons, Sean and Arthur; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Guy.

Preceded in death by his mother; and a son, Vaughn.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Finchford Community Church, rural Janesville, with burial at a later date. Iowa Cremation Society, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
