Vivian Coburn Edwards, 93, of Vinton, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab from complications of a stroke.

She was born April 28, 1916, in La Porte City, daughter of Charles and Vera Antone Coburn. She married Leonard Leroy Edwards on May 2, 1935, at the Methodist Church, Waterloo. He died Feb. 22, 2009.

Mrs. Edwards graduated from La Porte City High School. She worked for Armstrong's fur salon, Cedar Rapids, and also was their television commercial model for the fur coats. After a brief retirement, she worked at West Elementary School, Vinton. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Vinton.

Survived by three sons, John (Carol) of Cedar Rapids, James (Toni) of Puyallup, Wash., and David (Kim) Edwards of Vinton; five grandchildren, Jeff (Betsy) Edwards of Newhall, Calif., Shelly (Chris) Mussman of Grand Forks, N.D., Mike Edwards of Manhattan, N.Y., Stewart Edwards of Shellsburg and Skye Edwards of Coronado Island, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Jake and Jack Mussman and Jessica and Jason Edwards; three stepgrandchildren, Josh (Missy), Ben and Nate Merino; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Camden and Bailey Merino; a sister, Ruth (Ted) Bruch of Bella Vista, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Vinton. Per her wishes, her body was cremated. Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, Vinton, is assisting the family.

A memorial fund has been established.
