EVANSDALE - Kenneth B. Christianson, 97, of Vinton, formerly of Evansdale, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab, Vinton, following a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 29, 1911, in Norway, son of Benjamin C. and Ida Sweningson Christianson. He was a farmer in the Mt. Auburn area.

Survived by: three sons, Keith, Larry (Deb) and Gary Christianson, all of Vinton; three daughters, Janice Stott of Aurora, Colo., Karen DeSotel and Marie (Ron) Oman, both of Cherokee; three stepsons, Bill (Mary) Burkes, Jerry Cunningham and Bob Hoel; a stepdaughter, Marilyn (Bob) Kunkle; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith West of Hiawatha.

Preceded in death by: two wives, Myrna and Jeanetta; a sister, Grace Rommann; and two brothers, Ben and an infant.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, Vinton, with burial at 11:30 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
