Cecil Ivan "Cookie" Cook Jr., 78, of Waverly, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Cedar Falls, son of Cecil Ivan Anna Kress Cook Sr. He married Marlys E. Auner Oct. 25, 1952, at the Janesville School Gym.

He graduated from Janesville High School in 1951. Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953-54. He farmed near Janesville, owned and operated Cooks Food Fare in Cedar Falls, worked for Members Mutual Oil Co. and was a heavy equipment operator with the Street Department for the City of Cedar Falls. He became the farm manager of Winneshiek County Farm in 1981, retiring in August 1995.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Deanna (Tom) Sullivan of Bloomington, Ill., and Gena (Robert) Bappe of Hartford, S.D.; two sons, Brian G. (Sue) of Decorah and Bradley C. of Springfield, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heritage United Methodist Church, Waverly with burial in Washington Chapel Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
