Services for Philip E. Johnson, 78, of 220 Center St., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Methodist Church with burial in the Garden of Memories. He died of cancer Saturday night (July 4, 1987), at Allen Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 28, 1908, in Magnolia, Ill., Philip Johnson son of Axel and Victoria Keller Johnson. He married Gladys Hansen on Aug. 25, 1933, in Waterloo. She died in 1976.
He had been employed as a truck driver for Potter Ice Cream for 27 years, Hamms for 20 years and Black Hawk Supply and Paper for five years, retiring in 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Steve of Polk City and Jerry of Mason City; a daughter, Pat Johnson of Waterloo, 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.

Friends may call at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The casket will not be opened.
