EVANSDALE — Melvin L. Miller, 86, of Buffalo City, Wis., formerly of Evansdale, died Friday, Jan. 31, 1997, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona, Minn., of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 30, 1910, in Goodhue County, Minn., son of Charles and Martha Schutte-Raubaum Miller. He married lona P. Carlon May 14 1932 in Bear Valley, Minn.; she died May 19, 1981.

Mr. Miller was employed by Rath Packing Co. for 34 years and also worked for Alstadt and Langlas Baking Co., both in Waterloo.

Survived by three daughters, Margaret Jean Heidemann of Red Lion, Melva Leona Schreiber of Waterloo, and Diane Halgren of Buffalo City; a son, Gary M. of Safety Harbor, Fia.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Fern K. Miller of Elgin, Minn., and Grace Franz of Rochester, Minn.; and Edith Kuehl of Mazeppa, Minn., who raised him after his mother's death.

Preceded in death by a granddaughter; and a brother, Carl.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mazeppa, with burial in Mazeppa Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Wozney Funeral Chapel, Cochrane, Wis., is in charge of arrangements.
