Exie Walton, 93, formerly of Jesup, died Tuesday, March 29, 2009, at Long-Term Care Unit of the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence.

She was born Aug. 22, 1917, on the family farm in Spring Creek Township of Black Hawk County, daughter of Oscea Alvin and Della Mills Clark. She married Lloyd Keith Walton on Feb. 19, 1955, in Vinton. He died Oct. 12, 2005.

Mrs. Walton graduated from Jesup High School in 1935, then helped on the family farm and did domestic housework. She and her husband farmed until retiring in 1979. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, rural La Porte City.

Survived by a son, Harold (Phyllis) of Waterloo; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, John M. Clark of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by: an infant brother.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, rural La Porte City, with burial in Wilson Cemetery, Independence. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church and Cedar Valley Hospice.
