Lloyd K. Walton, 86, of Jesup, formerly of the Independence and Quasqueton area, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 22, 1919, in Quasqueton, son of Lee P. and Bertha A. Turner Walton. He married Exie Clark Feb. 19, 1955, in Vinton.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant and then worked as a farm hand in the Independence area. Mr. Walton and his wife moved to Waterloo where he was employed with Rath Packing Co. In 1956 the coupled starting farming south of Jesup, and he also was employed for a short time with John Deere Co. and with Pioneer Seeds. He retired from farming in 1979.

Survived by his wife; a son Harold (Phyllis) of Waterloo; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley (John) Terry of Independence.

Preceded in death by three brothers, L.A. Walton, Kenneth Walton and Donald Walton.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, with burial in Wilson Cemetery, both in Independence. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
