WATERLOO - Gladys M. Penning, 83, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Allen Hospital from complications following surgery.

She was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Nashua, daughter of Lloyd and Alma Rickoff Bacon. She married Donald H. Penning in Lancaster, Mo., on June 29, 1942. He died in September 2000.

Mrs. Penning was employed at Gamble Robinson for many years. She and her husband also owned and operated Penning's Lunch Wagon for 20 years.

Survived by a son, Ronald (Donna) of Waterloo; two daughters, LuAnn (Pat) Murphy and Debra (Bill) Pichelmann, both of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Bass of New Hartford; a sister-in-law, Alfreda Bacon of Maine; a special niece, Sharon (Dee) Harkins of Chandler, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Clyde Bacon; and a sister, Beulah Moore.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Garden View Chapel on Highway 63, preceded by an hour of visitation. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
