Charles Warren Ayers, who died at his home near Nashua, Ia., at 4 p.m. Wednesday, after 24 hours' illness, was born Nov. 22, 1872*, in Waterloo. He was the son of Homer and Martha Warren Ayers. His father at that time owned a meat market here. In 1895 Mr. Ayers was united in marriage to Minnie Willson, sister of Dr. C. W. Wilson.

Mrs. Ayers died at the birth of their only child, Charles Warren, jr., June 12, 1899. Mr. Ayers was married to Gene Rambach, who is a sister of Phil Rambach, this city. He was then employed in the post office, first as mail carrier in the west part of the city, and later in station A. About 18 years ago they moved to Nashua, Ia., where Mr. Ayers held various positions with the Cedar Valley Telephone company which was later known as the "Corn Belt" and finally as the Iowa Telephone Company. About two years ago he retired to a farm near Nashua. He was preparing to return to town for the winter when his death took place.

He was affiliated with the Masons in several capacities, having membership in the blue lodge at Nashua, R. A. M., Charles City, and the consistory of Clinton.

Surviving him are the widow, his son, Charles W., Jr., who with his wife and infant daughter are here from Fort Smith, Ark., and a cousin, Mrs. Ruby Elam, Waterloo.

Funeral services were conducted at the Masonic lodge in Nashua at 2 p.m. yesterday. Remains were accompanied to Waterloo by the relatives and many Mason for burial, which was at 9 a.m. today, in Elmwood Cemetery.
