Thelma M. Teisinger, 99, of Denver, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Denver Sunset Home of natural causes.

She was born March 27, 1908, on a farm south of Dunkerton, daughter of Jay and Maude Hazel Smith. She married Glenn L. Teisinger April 9, 1934, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death May 6, 2006.

She graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1926. In high school, she played the saxophone and was on the girls' basketball team. She graduated from Iowa Normal, now the University of Northern Iowa.

Mrs. Teisinger taught country schools and the sixth grade in Dunkerton.

Survived by a son, Max (Laurie) of Punta Gorda, Fla.

Preceded in death by her husband; a son, Lyle; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hilton and Estella Bailey.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Thelma enjoyed music and flowers. She and Glenn both liked to travel; they visited every state except Alaska. Thelma will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
