J. W. STRAUB IS DEAD AT 57

Personnel Mgr at Deere Works

Joseph W. Straub, personnel manager of the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, died of carcinoma Friday.

Straub, 57, had been employed by Deere's for 40 years. He died about 9:45 a.m. Firday at his home, 3128 McClain Drive, Cedar Falls.

Funeral services for Mr. Straub will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Falls. The Rev. E. J. Lang, assistant pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetry. The rosary society will reciet a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at Nelson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

A baseball and softball enthusiast, Straub participated in organization of the Midwest League here. He was once 9th district commissioner of the Northeast Iowa League.

He was born Dec. 2, 1906, in Dubuque, the son of Charles and Kate Eberhardt Straub. He married Helen Fox June 30, 1934, in Dubuque.

Straub had lived most of his life in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area. He was a member of both the Waterloo and Cedar Falls Chambers of Commerce, the john Deere Credit Union board of directors, the John Deere Supervisors Club and St. Patrick's Chatholic Church in Cedar Falls.

Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Lynda Jo, at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
