Alan C. Oelmann, 54, of Ackley, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City.

He was born Aug. 25, 1952, in Waterloo, son of Charles and Ruth Adolfs Oelmann. He married Sharon Neessen April 12, 1976, in Austinville.

Mr. Oelmann graduated from Aplington High School in 1970 and from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in ag power mechanics in 1972. He worked many years for DeVries Trucking of Austinville and was presently working at Eaton Corp. in Belmond.

In 1995 he was one of the founders of the West Franklin EMS and was the first president. He later became an EMT-B and an EMT-I. In 1999 he became a paramedic specialist and a member of the Ackley Ambulance.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Jennifer Oelmann of Des Moines; two sons, Heath (Heather) of Lakehurst, N.J., and Riley, at home; a son-in-law, Matthew Hansen of Independence; three grandchildren; three brothers, Keith (Deb) of Aplington and Warren (Cindy) and Brian, both of Austinville; two sisters, Janet Robinson of Ackley and Donna (Joe) Muhs of Adel; and a sister-in-law, Dee (Wayne) Munson of Waverly.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed; and a brother-in-law, Richard Robinson.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Aplington, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Ackley. Public visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Sietsema Funeral Home, Ackley.
